Kwon-Chung<\/strong>&nbsp;has had a luminous scientific career spanning nearly five decades at the National Institutes of Health, during which she pioneered the development of the field of medical mycology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her energy, vision, enthusiasm, leadership, research genius and worldwide stature have enabled her to spearhead and shape this discipline, contribute seminal advances, and improve public health worldwide. She is commonly referred to as the preeminent molecular mycologist in the world and the most influential mycologist of the last half century. She is a prolific researcher, having published over 200 peer-reviewed original articles, 40 solicited reviews or book chapters, and two books. Her accomplishments in and outside the profession have had a monumental impact on society at large and on the culture of science.
