워싱턴 DC 지회에서는 2026 Claire Kwi Hyun Kim Scholarship 장학생으로 선정되어 이화여자대학교 국제하계대학에 참가하게 된 Kimberly Lee 학생과 Hannah Lee 학생을 소개합니다.
아래 소개 글은 장학생들이 직접 작성한 내용입니다.
(1) Kimberly Lee
저는 최근 리처드 몽고메리 고등학교(Richard Montgomery High School)를 졸업하며 IB 디플로마 프로그램(International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme)을 이수했으며, 올 가을 웰즐리대학교(Wellesley College)에 진학할 예정입니다.
고등학교 재학 중 교내외에서 다양한 리더십 역할을 맡아 활동했습니다. 학교 DECA 지부 홍보부 부회장(Vice President of Public Relations), 국립미술명예협회(National Art Honor Society) 회장, Montgomery County Students for Change 부회장, 그리고 MCPS 학생 기후행동위원회(Student Climate Action Council) 노스센트럴 지역 대표 의원(North Central Council member) 등을 지냈습니다.
이러한 리더십 활동과 더불어 예술, 비즈니스, 사회참여, 지속가능성 분야에서도 다양한 성과와 인정을 받았습니다. 앞으로는 건축과 예술 분야에서의 진로를 꿈꾸며, 공동체를 하나로 연결하고 세상을 더 나은 방향으로 변화시키는 공간을 설계하는 건축가가 되고 싶습니다.
I recently graduated from Richard Montgomery High School, where I completed the IB Diploma Programme, and will be attending Wellesley College this upcoming fall. Throughout high school, I held leadership positions both in and out of school, serving as Vice President of Public Relations for my school’s DECA chapter and President of my school’s National Art Honor Society, Vice President of Montgomery County Students for Change, and North Central Councilmember of the MCPS Student Climate Action Council.
In addition to my leadership roles, I have received recognition in both the arts, business, advocacy, and sustainability fields. My future goals lie in architecture and the arts, where I hope to design spaces that bring together communities and improve the world around us.
(2) Hannah Lee
이채연은 현재 조지타운대학교(Georgetown University) 공공정책학(Public Policy) 전공 2학년 진학 예정 학생으로, 지금까지 모든 학기에서 First Honors를 수상하였습니다.
현재 이채연은 Pre-Law Society의 임시 회장, Georgetown Political Strategy의 컨설턴트, 그리고 Vice President for Global Engagement 산하 연구보조원(Research Assistant)으로 활동하고 있습니다. 또한 지역 신문에 필진으로 참여하여 지역사회의 정치 및 경제 동향을 취재·보도하고 있습니다.
이채연은 이번 여름 이화여자대학교(Ewha Womans University)에서 공부하게 되기를 기대하고 있으며, 국제관계·법·경제의 접점과 관련된 분야에서의 진로를 계속해서 발전시켜 나가고자 합니다.
International Summer College 프로그램을 통해 다양한 문화권의 학생들과 함께하는 글로벌 학습 환경에서 배우고, 새로운 학우들을 만나며, 더 나은 사회를 만드는 미래를 향해 한 걸음씩 나아가기를 기대하고 있습니다.
Hannah Lee is a rising sophomore at Georgetown University, where she is pursuing a major in Public Policy and has received First Honors recognition all semesters. She currently serves as the interim president of the Pre-Law Society, a consultant for Georgetown Political Strategy, and a research assistant for the Vice President for Global Engagement. She also writes for a local newspaper, where she covers political and economic developments in the community.
She looks forward to studying at Ewha this summer and continuing her pursuit of a career relating to the intersection of international affairs, law, and economics. Through the International Summer College program, she is excited to learn in a global environment, meet her classmates, and strive towards a future of improving society.
